Music

Over the years, Billy has written, arranged, performed, and recorded music in various styles both alone and with musicians he met through mutual acquaintances, school, and even web forums and classified ads.

For current projects, including Billy’s solo work, the rock project A Mystery to Me, and the melodic metal project Your Lying Eyes, new recordings are being made in a home studio with modern digital audio workstation (DAW) software and as a result have much higher sound quality than past recordings. These newer recordings will be published as they are completed, probably one song at a time in most cases. You can check the relevant project page or simply keep an eye on Billy’s music journal blog for updates.

As most earlier recordings were made using little other than some microphones and a boombox, a 1980s-era four-track analog cassette recorder, or an early 2000s 4-track digital recorder, the sound quality varies widely.

That said, both The Vault and The Gnarboots recorded one EP in a studio. The Vault’s EP was recorded to analog tape, and The Gnarboots’ was recorded to ADAT, which is a form of tape, but is actually digital.
